Uk Car Plants Sample Tour

1 Day Tour ( 2 days from £55)

DAY 1
Depart school early in the morning and travel to Morgan Car Factory (Malvern, Worcestshire). Morgan's have been manufactured since 1910, and in the same brick factory since the early 1920's. This family run business with a workforce of under 100 skilled technicians lovingly produce about ten of the hand-built, ash-framed cars per week. It takes on average 23 days to build one Morgan car. Engines are supplied by major automakers, including BMW, which provides the power for the newest model, the Aeromax.
PLEASE NOTE - The Morgan Tour is for a maximum of 25 visitors per session. The tour lasts approximately 1hr30mins. Sessions available 9-11am and 1-3pm (groups may have to be split over 2 sessions subject to availability).
Following lunch, you will depart for the Jaguar Car Factory (Castle Bromwich). The visit begins with a video presentation giving an overview of Jaguar's history and highlighting Jaguar's place as one of Britain's most successful and celebrated car makers, as well as briefing the students on the safety requirements of the plant. A fascinating guided tour follows, allowing the students to witness first hand the state of the art machinery involved in the build process of the Jaguar S-Type, from the initial assembly of the body shell to the fitment of the driveline. Students can gain vital appreciation of the part played by robots in the modern manufacturing process, with over 140 robots working on the production line, and also the logistical problems encountered in such a large scale operation. Arrive back to school in the evening.

PLEASE NOTE - The Jaguar tour is for a maximum of 25 school students per session. This is a very popular tour, and is often booked up many months in advance. Tours operate Monday to Thursday at 10.00am and 1.00pm, and Friday at 10.00.
